Hoe does the Bestman prepare his wedding toast speech
Being asked to be the best man is like being asked to do a Presidential Speech it's a great honor, but without experience it's difficult!
The best man's duty of having to get up in front of a large crowd and toast the bride and groom can be a frightinh experience. There's pressure on you to do it right and not mess up their big day, but it's not as hard as it looks. Writing a great toast requires a little time, common sense and hard work, and some imagination. Someone thought enough of you to ask you to be best man in their wedding, so have some faith in yourself and your ability to say the words that will wish them the best.
wedding tip #1
Make notes about the bride and groom and your relationship with them.
Most importantly how much did the groom change by way of this marriage.
What he like before he met his bride and what is he like now?
How would you describe each of them? What are the first five adjectives that come to mind?
How did they meet? How did the groom tell you about her?
How do you know them?
Why did they choose you as best man?
If you are married, you may wish give some marriage advice you've received or have learned.
Are there any particularly interesting stories that you can tell about the bride and grooms?
Once you've done that, it's time put those ideas into a heartfelt and entertaining toast.
Start off by introducing yourself, start off by saying I'm so and so and have been the groom's best friend for this many years. Here is an interestibng story about him thjat nobody knows Also thank the bridal party and family, traditionally the parents of the bride. If the bride and groom are paying for the wedding themselves, simply say, "We're all happy to be here today on this special occasion."
Remember to raise your glass with a loud congratulations, cheers, or salud, and be sure to drink your own toast!
Remember, everyone gets nervous. Speak loud & clear and do not mumble or ramble on. A 5-10 minute speech is muck too long at a wedding recption.
Don't drink too much before you give your speech.
Absolutely positively do not read straight from the card. These words are supposed to come from the heart, not a script.. It's better to paraphrase what you've written, and get the general feeling across. Keep your notes handy, butt remember to make eye-contact with the wedding recptionaudience
Exercise good posture
If you lose your nerve say something simple congratulations I think the two of you are meant for each other and will have a great life together Good Luck to both of you from hereforth. Cheers!"
